At least eight guests were injured when a speeding Wagon-R car driven by an angry group of gatecrashers rammed into them during a wedding procession in Modinagar, Ghaziabad, on Tuesday night, police reported on Thursday. The incident took place after a confrontation between two wedding groups, resulting in a violent act that left several people injured.

The FIR identified two suspects, Sagar Kumar (23) and Pradeep Kumar (22), both residents of Meerut. They were arrested on Thursday, while 8-10 other unidentified individuals remain at large. The incident occurred when a group of uninvited guests tried to gatecrash a wedding at a farmhouse in Niwari, near the victim group’s celebration. After forcibly entering the venue, they started dancing and demanded their preferred songs be played on the DJ. Tensions rose when the victim group asked them to leave, leading to a scuffle.

Surendra Singh, the complainant, recounted, “After our wedding procession began, the gatecrashers returned in a speeding Wagon-R, ran over several guests, and fled the scene.” Vikrant Saharan, a relative of the victim, added, “We noted the car’s number, and after assessing the situation, we rushed the injured to a hospital.”

The FIR includes charges of rioting, voluntarily causing hurt, rash driving, and attempting culpable homicide. The condition of the injured guests is stable, and the investigation continues.
