Gurugram: In an inspiring display of honesty, a cab driver in Gurugram returned a MacBook worth Rs 2 lakh that a college student had accidentally left behind in his vehicle. The heartwarming incident, shared by the student on Reddit, has gone viral and earned widespread praise for the driver’s integrity.
Student’s anxious wait turns to relief
The student recounted that he had borrowed a friend’s MacBook and was travelling to college when he mistakenly left the device in the cab. After realising the loss, he tried calling the driver but received no response.
Believing the laptop was gone, he rushed back to the college gate, only to find the cab driver waiting there with the laptop bag in hand. The driver explained that he had left his phone inside the car and came directly to the gate to return the bag.
“I called the cab driver twice, but there was no response. My mind almost accepted that it was gone. My friend and I ran towards the gate while still calling, and that’s when I saw the cab bhaiya standing there, holding the laptop bag and talking to the security guards,” the student wrote in his Reddit post.
Reward politely declined
Overwhelmed with gratitude, the student offered the driver Rs 500 as a token of appreciation. The driver, however, refused to accept it, saying the student was like a child to him and returning the bag was simply the right thing to do.
