A Gurugram resident has shared a heartfelt account of how Blinkit’s in-app ambulance service provided swift assistance during a late-night medical emergency involving their 90-year-old grandmother.

Rapid response during critical moment

In a Reddit post titled ‘Experience with Blinkit Ambulance’, the user said their grandmother suddenly began struggling to breathe on the night of February 14.

“As someone who has often been sceptical about the rapid rise of quick commerce in our country, I feel compelled to share this with deep appreciation and gratitude,” the user wrote.

After requesting assistance through the app, a paramedic reportedly called within minutes to understand the patient’s condition and assured the family that the ambulance would arrive in seven to ten minutes.

According to the post, the medical team reached promptly, administered oxygen and monitored vital signs. The grandmother’s oxygen saturation, which had dropped to 81, reportedly improved to the high 90s after oxygen support.

Professional care and coordination

Before transporting the patient to a nearby hospital, the paramedics remained in contact with a senior doctor, the user noted. The family described the team’s conduct as professional and reassuring during a moment of panic.

The resident also stated that the service was provided free of cost, adding that they were “profoundly grateful” to the medical staff who assisted them.

Positive reactions online

As the post gained traction, several social media users shared similar experiences. Some praised the response time and professionalism, while others described how the service had helped during emergencies.

While such accounts highlight growing innovation in urban healthcare access, experts note that emergency preparedness, timely response and coordination with hospitals remain critical factors in improving patient outcomes.

The viral post has sparked wider discussion about the role of app-based services in expanding emergency medical support in Indian cities.
