Haryana: In a shocking development, Haryana Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep Sharma allegedly died by suicide, leaving behind a video message accusing the late Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Y Puran Kumar of widespread corruption within the police force. Sharma’s allegations have added a new dimension to the ongoing investigation into Kumar’s own death, earlier reported as a suicide.
Sharma’s video claimed that Kumar orchestrated a ₹50 crore deal to remove an individual named Rao Inderjit from a case. He alleged that Kumar accepted substantial bribes in a murder case and manipulated the system through caste politics, systematically replacing certain officers with his hand-picked team. Sharma also accused these officers of extorting money from other officers by exploiting minor clerical errors in official files.
Authorities have launched an investigation into both Sharma’s and Kumar’s deaths. The Haryana government has assured a thorough probe to uncover the truth. The case has sparked outrage among political parties and civil rights organizations, demanding justice and accountability. Protests have been staged calling for high court-supervised investigations and immediate action against alleged corrupt officers.
National leaders have also reacted, criticizing systemic caste-based discrimination within the police administration. This incident has highlighted deep-rooted issues in the force and underscores the urgent need for structural reforms to ensure transparency and justice.
