Chandigarh: An 80-year-old man from Haryana, Darshan Singh Brar, who was pronounced dead by doctors, experienced an extraordinary turn of events that saved his life, according to his family. Being transported from Patiala to his home near Karnal for his final rites, the ambulance carrying Brar hit a pothole near Dhand village in Haryana. To everyone’s astonishment, Brar’s grandson, who was accompanying him, observed movement and detected a heartbeat. Promptly, the grandson urged the ambulance driver to divert to the nearest hospital.

Subsequent examinations at the hospital revealed signs of life, contradicting the initial declaration of death. Brar, a heart patient, is presently receiving critical medical attention at a hospital in Karnal. His family, considering the incident a miraculous turn of events, is optimistic about his recovery.

Balwan Singh, one of Brar’s grandsons, narrated that the family received news of Brar’s demise around 9 am on Thursday. The elderly man had been in Patiala for medical treatment and was on a ventilator for four days. Following the declaration of death by doctors, the family had initiated funeral preparations in Nising, where Brar resided. The shocking revelation of Brar’s vitality during the ambulance journey prompted an urgent redirection to a nearby hospital.

Dr. Netrapal from Rawal Hospital in Karnal remarked, “We cannot say that the patient has died. When he was brought to us, he was breathing and had blood pressure as well as a pulse. We don’t know what happened at the other hospital, whether it was a technical error or something else.” Although Brar is no longer on a ventilator, his condition remains critical, with respiratory difficulties attributed to a chest infection.

The family, expressing gratitude for this unexpected turn of events, is relying on medical intervention and hoping for Brar’s swift recovery. The incident has left the community astonished, turning what was initially a mourning gathering into a celebration of Brar’s resilience against all odds.
