Traffic authorities have been asked to stop movement on flooded roads and inspect bridges and causeways to avoid mishaps. The Electricity Department has been directed to provide uninterrupted supply and remove damaged or hanging wires immediately to prevent electrocution risks.

Emergency teams on high alert

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Authority (HYDRAA), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been placed on high alert. Teams are already on standby in Hyderabad and other vulnerable districts.

Even though schools are closed for Dasara holidays, officials have been told to take extra precautions to protect students in flood-hit areas.

Public urged to remain cautious

Authorities have appealed to the public to remain indoors during heavy showers and avoid unnecessary travel. Commuters have been asked to use caution while travelling on waterlogged roads and to follow official advisories.

The IMD has predicted generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain on 25 and 26 September. Rainfall is expected to intensify on 27 and 28 September, with heavy showers forecast across Hyderabad and adjoining districts.
