Disturbing videos from a maternity hospital in Gujarat have sparked outrage and raised questions about women’s safety in trusted medical institutions. CCTV footage showing nursing staff administering injections to female patients at Payal Maternity Home in Rajkot surfaced on YouTube and Telegram channels, igniting concerns of privacy violations.
The videos quickly gained attention online, eventually reaching the authorities in Ahmedabad’s Cyber Crime Police department. In response, Dr. Amit Akbari, the hospital’s director, claimed that the CCTV server had been hacked. “I don’t know how the videos went viral. It appears our CCTV server was compromised. We are unaware of the reason behind this and will inform the police,” he explained. Dr. Akbari assured that the hospital would cooperate fully with the investigation.
The Rajkot Cyber Crime Police have initiated a probe into the matter, questioning the hospital staff, including doctors. Authorities are focusing on the origins of the footage and the intent behind sharing it. A case has been registered under sections 66E and 67 of the Cyber Crime IT Act, which addresses the violation of privacy and the distribution of obscene content.
This unsettling incident has raised alarm over the security and privacy of women in healthcare settings, urging stronger safeguards to protect patients.
