Delhi: In a move to quell speculations surrounding high-profile Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh, the Congress party has announced Vikramaditya Singh as their candidate for the crucial parliamentary constituency. Mandi constituency is in news as Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut is contesting from the seat.
The party released a list of 16 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, including Manish Vikramaditya Singh for Mandi, Vino Sultanpuri for Shimla, and Manish Tewari for Chandigarh,
Vikramaditya Singh will contest against BJP’s nominee, actress Kangana Ranaut, for the Mandi seat. Himachal Pradesh Congress unit chief Pratibha Singh expressed confidence in her son’s candidacy, citing the support of the people of Mandi towards the Congress. Pratibha Singh, the incumbent MP from Mandi, has won thrice from this seat.
The decision was taken after a discussion with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu. Vikramaditya Singh is the Member of Legislative Assembly from Shimla Rural constituency. He is the son of the former chief minister of Himachal Pradesh Late Virbhadra Singh.
