In a tense rescue operation near Puthilottu, Cheruvathoor, a horse that accidentally fell into a deep 10.8-metre uncovered well was successfully rescued on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2 pm when the horse, belonging to K Vijayan, wandered off while grazing and slipped into the unguarded well, which had no protective wall.
Locals quickly raised an alarm, and a team from the Fire and Rescue Services, led by Senior Officer Prasad, rushed to the spot. In a joint operation with area residents, the team managed to carefully lift the animal to safety using ropes and coordinated effort.
The horse sustained no major injuries and was safely returned to its owner, thanks to the swift response and community effort.
