Lucknow: A student of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) who mocked the Pulwama tragedy in which more than 45 CRPF jawans were martyred, has been suspended.

Basim Hilal hailing from Kashmir, was a student of B Sc (Maths) at AMU, and was living at the B M Hostel in the University. He posted ”How’s the Jaish? Great Sir” on his Twitter handle.

The tweet paraphrases a dialogue from the movie ‘Uri-The Surgical Strike’ which says ‘How’s is the josh?”.

”We can not tolerate such objectionable posts… we have suspended the student as soon as we came to know of the post,” said an AMU spokesman.

According to sources from the police, a case has been registered against Hilal and investigations are on.

Hilal has been booked by the police under Section 153 A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the IT Act.

Fourteen students of AMU had been booked for sedition after they allegedly took a march in the varsity campus and raised ‘anti-India’ slogans, a couple days ago.
