Hyderabad police release guidelines for New Year celebrations

As Hyderabad prepares for the New Year festivities, the Commissioner of Police has issued detailed guidelines for hotels, clubs, bars, and pubs, especially those with 3-star ratings or higher, to ensure public safety and a smooth celebration. Organizers are urged to follow strict protocols, prioritizing safety, decency, and effective traffic management.

Permission and Safety Requirements Organizers of ticketed events must obtain permits at least 15 days in advance. The establishments are required to install CCTV cameras with recording capabilities at all entry and exit points, as well as in parking areas, in compliance with the Telangana Public Safety Enforcement Act, 2013.

Rules on Decency, Noise, and Crowd Control Event organizers must ensure that performances do not feature obscenity, nudity, or offensive gestures. Outdoor sound systems, including DJs and loudspeakers, must stop by 10 PM, while indoor events can continue until 1 AM, with a noise limit of 45 decibels. To avoid overcrowding and maintain law and order, ticket sales will be capped to match the venue’s capacity.

Strict Safety Measures Firearms are strictly prohibited at all venues. Organizers are responsible for providing special parking arrangements and security to manage traffic effectively. They must also ensure that narcotics are not sold or used on-site, with severe penalties for violations. Liquor service must follow permitted hours, and venues must provide safe transport options for intoxicated guests.

Advisory for Patrons A police advisory will be displayed at all venues, reminding patrons that drunk driving is punishable under the Motor Vehicles Act, with fines up to Rs 10,000, license suspension, and potential imprisonment. Customers are encouraged to use designated drivers or alternate transport. Additionally, SHE Teams will patrol to ensure safety and address crimes against women.
