Hyderabad: A 24-year-old engineering student was apprehended on Wednesday, March 12, for allegedly distributing ganja among his college peers. The accused, Raju, hailing from Korutla, is in his second year at a private engineering institute. According to The New Indian Express, excise police revealed that he sourced the contraband from Bidar, smuggled it into Hyderabad, and sold it to his classmates. Law enforcement officials confiscated 1.3 kg of ganja, a motorcycle, and a mobile phone from his possession.
In another tragic incident, an 18-year-old engineering student lost his life in a car accident on Tuesday night. The mishap occurred on Neopolis Road, near Plot 01, Rajapushpa Constructions, Hyderabad. The victim, identified as Srikar, reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an electricity pole.
Five passengers—Hemasai, Vivek, Srujan, Kartikeya, and Harsha—sustained injuries and were immediately rushed to a private hospital for medical attention. Harsha remains in critical condition at Continental Hospital.
According to Narsingi police, Srikar, who was behind the wheel, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His body was transferred to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem examination. Authorities have filed a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
