The Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted a daring helicopter rescue operation, saving four people trapped in the flood-ravaged Kalyanpur tehsil of Devbhumi Dwarka district, Gujarat, on Thursday.
As relentless rains battered the state for the fourth consecutive day, the situation in the coastal districts of Saurashtra and Vadodara city continued to deteriorate, with widespread flooding and rising death tolls. Since Sunday, 28 people have lost their lives due to the floods, with 13 drowning and others succumbing to collapsing walls, houses, and falling trees.
The disaster has prompted the evacuation of over 28,000 residents to safer areas and the rescue of 1,856 individuals from submerged regions. Emergency teams are working around the clock to provide aid and prevent further casualties, even as rain continues to pound the region, creating a race against time to save lives and protect property from further damage.
