New Delhi: The Indian Air Force (IAF) Vice Chief, Air Marshal Shirish Baban Deo was, on September 26, rushed to a hospital after he accidentally shot himself in the thigh.
The incident is reported to have occurred when Air Marshal Deo was cleaning his gun.
Air Marshal Deo, who is now stable, underwent surgery to set his femur at the Army Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi, according to sources.
In July, Air Marshal Deo had taken over as Vice Chief of the Air Staff from Air Marshal B S Dhanoa, who is now the Air Chief. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and was commissioned as a fighter pilot in the IAF in 1979.
