ICICI Bank sales head dies by suicide, family alleges workplace harassment
A shocking case of alleged workplace harassment has surfaced in Bengaluru, where Vivek Samdarshi, a regional sales head at ICICI Bank, has reportedly died by suicide. His family claims that extreme workplace pressure and humiliation by senior officials led to his tragic demise.
Vivek’s elder brother, Vikash Samdarshi, has filed a police complaint at Thalaghattapura Police Station, holding Raghu Kumar (Regional Head, ICICI Home Loan Department) and John Joseph (Zonal Head, ICICI Bank Home Loan Department) responsible for abetment to suicide.
Allegations of harassment
The family alleges that Vivek endured relentless pressure at work. He reportedly confided in them about constant humiliation, with Raghu Kumar allegedly telling him, “If you can’t perform, you should die.” Meanwhile, John Joseph purportedly dismissed his concerns, allowing the harassment to persist.
On March 7, 2025, Vikash received a distressing call at 3 AM, informing him that his brother was in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, Vivek was pronounced dead at 11:30 PM at Dhee Hospital.
Investigation underway
Authorities have initiated a probe into the serious allegations against senior ICICI Bank officials. Legal action will be determined following further investigation.
