India blocks Pakistani minister’s account after military strike claim
Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar saw his X account blocked in India, following his assertion that Pakistan had received “credible intelligence” suggesting India might launch a military strike on the neighboring country within 24 to 36 hours, after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
The attack, which killed 26 civilians, has sparked significant tensions between India and Pakistan. In retaliation, India has initiated a series of actions, including blocking the social media accounts of prominent Pakistani figures such as actor Fawad Khan, singer Atif Aslam, and musician Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
Tarar’s blocked X account now displays a message stating that it has been withheld in India due to a legal demand. During a late-night press conference on Wednesday, the minister warned that Pakistan would respond decisively to any military action from India, emphasizing the serious consequences for regional stability.
He reiterated Pakistan’s stance as a victim of terrorism and offered to conduct a transparent, neutral investigation into the Pahalgam attack. This comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi granted the Indian military “complete operational freedom” to retaliate for the attack, which also led India to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty and revoke all Pakistani visas.
