India defends Operation Sindoor as strike on terror, slams Pakistan for inaction
India has described Operation Sindoor as a non-escalatory, measured military response aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure in Pakistan, in the aftermath of the barbaric Pahalgam attack. The government said the strikes were in line with a UN Security Council statement calling for accountability for the attack and were designed to deter future cross-border threats.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that there was “clear evidence” linking the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its proxy The Resistance Front (TRF) to the Pahalgam attack. Intelligence revealed communications between the attackers and nodes located “in and to Pakistan.” Misri emphasized that Pakistan, even weeks later, had taken no action against terror camps on its soil or in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Misri also accused Pakistan of working with China to dilute international pressure, noting their attempt to remove references to TRF in a recent UNSC press statement. He highlighted Pakistan’s repeated history of shielding terrorists, including the case of Sajid Mir, a key accused in the Mumbai attacks, who was falsely declared dead and later found alive under global pressure.
India said its actions were not just retaliatory but preventive, given intelligence warnings of imminent attacks. The government reiterated that the motive of the Pahalgam attack was to sabotage peace, tourism, and development in Kashmir, and to incite communal tensions. Despite these provocations, the Indian public and administration had thwarted such divisive agendas.
