India won’t be able to provide jobs to its youth in 6-7 months: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: India will be unable to provide jobs to its youth in the coming days, predicted Rahul Gandhi during a virtual press conference on Thursday, August 20.

Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his policies, Gandhi said that the crisis would hit in the next six to seven months. He also reminded the people of the time when “the media made fun” of him when he made his predictions about the novel coronavirus pandemic.

During the presser, Gandhi said that India will not be able to provide the youth with employment. “This is obvious. This has never happened in 70 years that the country is not able to give its youths jobs,” he said.

“The media made fun of me when I warned the country that there will be heavy loss due to COVID-19. If you don’t believe me, don’t listen to me. Today I am saying that our country won’t be able to give jobs. If you don’t agree then wait for six-seven months,” Gandhi said, NDTV reported.

He reasoned that this would come to pass as those who are to provide jobs in the unorganized sector have been finished by the economy.

Pointing out that 90% of the employment is in the unorganized sector, he said, “Small industries, farmers… PM Modi destroyed the system.” He also prediced that companies will “fall one after the other” and that micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) “will be destroyed after the moratorium period”.

Earlier on Wednesday, Gandhi had tweeted that some two crore people lost their jobs in the past four months. He added that the “truth about unemployment” cannot be kept hidden from the country.

Ever since the lockdown was enforced in the country to combat the spread of COVID-19, former AICC president Rahul Gandhi has been attacking the Prime Minister and the Central Government for their economic policies.
