Notably, Mumbai earned a spot in the top five food regions globally, thanks to its iconic street food like Bhel Puri and Pav Bhaji, which represent its cosmopolitan culture.
Other cities making the cut include Amritsar, known for its rich Punjabi cuisine such as Amritsari Kulcha and Chicken Tikka, securing the 43rd position. New Delhi and Hyderabad followed closely at 45th and 50th, famed for their delicious street food offerings. Kolkata and Chennai also found a place in the top 100, ranked 71st and 75th, respectively. This global recognition emphasizes India’s culinary significance and its variety, from traditional dishes to modern innovations.
The “100 Best Food Regions in the World” list was topped by Naples, Italy, known for its Neapolitan pizza and vibrant street food scene. The inclusion of several Indian cities highlights the growing global appreciation for India’s rich culinary heritage and food traditions.
