Denton: Indian-origin couple Anuradha and Vikas Sinha have donated $20 million to the University of North Texas (UNT), helping establish a new college focused on artificial intelligence and advanced analytics.
In recognition of their contribution, the university will name it the Anuradha and Vikas Sinha College of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics.
A gift that opens doors for students
The new college will serve as an academic and research hub for artificial intelligence, intelligent systems and data analytics.
It will bring together expertise spanning AI, cybersecurity, data science, advanced analytics, health informatics, information science, library science and learning technologies.
The $20 million contribution will establish six permanent endowments supporting college leadership, student scholarships, professorships, entrepreneurship and incubation, research and emerging technologies.
For Vikas Sinha, the contribution also reflects the couple’s own journey as immigrants and students.
“Education has opened doors for us throughout our lives, and we want to hold those doors open for others,” he said.
From Indian students to major benefactors
Anuradha and Vikas moved to the United States from India after completing bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering at Sri Venkateswara University. Both later earned graduate degrees from Florida Atlantic University. Vikas subsequently pursued further studies at Northwestern University and completed his PhD at UNT in 2023.
Their association with UNT philanthropy predates the latest donation. In 2024, their support helped establish the Anuradha and Vikas Sinha Department of Data Science, while another gift in 2025 created the Sinha Innovation Lab for Data Science.
The latest contribution extends that commitment, with the university hoping the college will prepare students for a workforce increasingly shaped by AI and data.
