Jammu: Local field commanders of the Indian and Pakistani armies on Monday decided to exercise restraint to respect the bilateral ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) that divides Jammu and Kashmir between them, an army official said.

“A brigade-level flag meeting was held between the Indian and Pakistani army at Chakan Da Bagh crossing point on the LoC in Poonch district today (Monday). The field commanders discussed a host of issues including the ongoing ceasefire violations, targeting of civilian areas and sniper actions on the LoC,” Indian army’s northern command spokesman Colonel S.D.Goswami told IANS.

“At the meeting that lasted for nearly an hour, the two sides decided to ensure restraint so that the bilateral ceasefire between the two sides is respected,” he added.

Police sources told IANS that the India army was represented by Brigadier H.S. Sarin while Brigadier Usman represented the Pakistan side.
