Indian TV show copies Arya’s knife switch kill move, gets trolled on Reddit

New Delhi: Indian films and TV serials have been known to plagiarise from other sources and sometimes they are not even subtle about it. According to a report by Hindustan Times, fans of HBO’s Game of Thrones (GoT) recently noticed that an episode of the Hindi TV show “Aladdin – Naam Toh Suna Hoga” had a scene resembling one from GoT- the scene where Arya Stark kills the Night King, although presented in a pretty ‘meh’ way. However, there is some confusion as who did the scene first.

GoT fans recognised the similarities between the two shows and took to Reddit to debate the incident. According to the report, one Redditor pointed out that the Aladdin episode in question was released on June 13, whereas the GoT episode in question (episode three, season eight) was released on April 28.

The Reddit post says “India did it before it was cool” and some other Redditors have also commented that the Indian show aired the show before HBO did.

Some also defended the Indian entertainment industry saying that an Indian VFX studio was involved in the production of GoT.

According to the Redditor, the Aladdin episode in question can be seen on SonyLiv app, however, the scene has been removed from the online version.

No matter who did it first, we have to talk about how ridiculous the scene in Aladdin is. The main character of the show, Aladdin is seen stabbing a skeleton (like seriously? LOL) through the rib cage, causing the creature to turn to dust.

In the Reddit post thread, one user asked, “Did he just….. stab… a skeleton?” while another pointed out “Like it just went through the rib cage what effect did it have?”

“Yeah I’m over here wondering how stabbing a skeleton like that even works,” asked another user.

But, maybe GoT or Aladdin weren’t the pioneers of the kill move as one Redditor pointed out that a similar move was used in the film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and that was released back in 2012.
