Thrissur: Children are usually considered gifts from God but, a recent stomach turning incident in Kerala proves otherwise.
The body of a two-day old baby girl was found in a house in Kerala on April 13 and the shocking part is, the infant was found flushed down the toilet. The body was found when the plumbers were trying to unclog the toilet.
The house belonged to Abdul Rahman, a doctor, and his wife, who reportedly ran a clinic from their home. They had called the plumbers to unclog their toilet after their maid servant informed them that the toilet water was muddy.
Plumbers tried to pull what they thought was a ball, only to find out that it was the head of the infant. They failed to pull the child out as the body was stuck in the duct due to the placenta still being attached.
Rahman immediately filed a complaint based on which the police have filed a case against the child’s parents. The police suspect that the parents, who are now absconding, paid a visit to the clinic under the pretext of getting the child checked and flushed her down the toilet the first chance they got. They also say that it is possible that the mother birthed the child in the toilet. The police are currently checking the doctor’s patient records in order to glean more details.
Speaking about the unfortunate incident, the police said that as the body had not decomposed, there was no foul odour in the toilet. There was however, blood in the commode, the colour of which caused the maid to mistake it for mud.
The child’s body has been moved to the Thrissur medical college for an autopsy.
Fate, it would seem, is still selectively cruel to the girl child.
