A 45-year-old beautician and social media influencer was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband following a dispute over the ownership of a recently purchased plot of land in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district, police said.

The victim, identified as Nisha Chauhan, was attacked at her residence in Harra town under the Sarurpur police station limits on Friday morning. According to police, the couple had been married for nearly 18 years and have three children.

Argument over property turns violent

Police said the couple reportedly got into a heated argument around 6 am over the registration of a newly purchased property. Preliminary investigations suggest that Nisha wanted the land to be registered in her name, claiming she had contributed the larger share of the money used for the purchase.

According to officials, her husband, Pradeep Kumar, allegedly opposed the proposal, suspecting that she might claim sole ownership of the property.

Investigators said Pradeep allegedly went upstairs, returned with a kitchen knife, and attacked Nisha, inflicting multiple stab injuries.

Son injured while trying to intervene

The couple’s 17-year-old son reportedly attempted to stop the assault but sustained injuries during the incident. He then rushed to seek help from neighbours.

By the time neighbours arrived, Nisha had suffered multiple stab wounds. She was declared dead, while Pradeep allegedly stabbed himself in the chest and stomach in an apparent suicide attempt.

He was admitted to a hospital, where he remains under treatment.

Investigation underway

Police and forensic teams visited the scene after receiving information about the incident. Nisha’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.

Authorities said the case highlights the tragic consequences of domestic disputes escalating into violence. Police are continuing to collect evidence and record statements to establish the full sequence of events
