Thiruvananthapuram: Congres leader Shashi Tharoor, who suffered a head injury while participating in a religious ritual in Thiruvananthapuram, plunged into the campaign trail merely a day after the incident.
This spirit of Tharoor was lauded by none other than All India Congress Committee President Rahul Gandhi.
With a scarf around his head, Tharoor went out seeking the support of the voters to be re-elected from Thiruvananthapuram.
“I was worried when Tharoor was hurt. I am happy to see that he was back in action. It tells you about his spirit. As Congress president, I am telling you, he represented you well in Parliament. He speaks for you in Parliament. He is an asset for Kerala,” Rahul Gandhi said.
After the injury, Tharoor was kept under observation at a hospital and was discharged on Wednesday. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who was in Kerala for the BJP’s poll campaign, had visited him in the hospital and in a tweet, Tharoor appreciated her gesture stating that ‘Civility is a rare virtue in Indian politics- Great to see her practice it by example!”
