ANANTAPUR: The horrific murder of a 20-year-old Intermediate student, Saake Tanmayi, has sent shockwaves across Anantapur district. Tanmayi, a resident of Ramakrishna Colony, was found murdered behind Manipal School, under Kuderu Police Station limits.
According to CI G Raju, an FIR for a missing person was initially lodged on June 4 at One Town Police Station after Tanmayi’s parents reported her disappearance on June 3 evening. As part of the investigation, police began questioning college friends and suspects.
On Saturday evening, an unidentified body was discovered in an isolated area. It was shifted to Anantapur Government Hospital for postmortem. The victim’s parents later identified the body as Tanmayi’s based on clothing and distinct physical features. The police confirmed a severe head injury, suggesting the use of brutal force.
CI G Rajendranath Yadav affirmed that there was no delay in the investigation and that all leads were actively followed. The motive and identity of the perpetrator are still under investigation.
Reacting to the tragic development, Minister for HRD and IT Nara Lokesh condemned the crime in strong terms. He stated that there would be no tolerance for such barbaric acts under the current coalition government. Lokesh assured the victim’s family of justice and full support from the state.
The case has sparked public outrage, with calls growing louder for swift justice and safety measures for students.
