New Delhi: Interpol, on Wednesday, January 22, issued a blue corner notice against self-proclaimed “Godman” Nithyananda, who is wanted by the police for rape, kidnapping and sexual abuse.

A blue corner notice helps track individuals allegedly involved in criminal activities and suspected to be in other countries.

The notice has been issued by the Interpol based on a request from the Gujarat police.

The self-proclaimed “Godman” is wanted by the police in connection with a case of kidnapping and keeping children captive at his ashram in Ahmedabad. he had previously been arrested in 2010 in Himachal Pradesh on allegations of rape.

It can be recalled that Nithyananda fled India last year, amid allegations of rape and sexual abuse. He even recently created a country of his own named Kailaasa, calling it the “biggest Hindu nation” without boundaries.

Last month, Ecuador reportedly denied that Nithyananda was residing in their land, stating that his request for asylum had been rejected. It also denied reports that the fugitive “godman” had bought an island, and suggested that had fled for Haiti.

In December last year, the Indian government cancelled his passport and rejected his application for a new issue. Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry Raveesh Kumar informed the media that all the country’s missions and posts abroad have been directed to help locate Nithyananda.

Nithyananda, in recent times, has become a popular “meme-able” figure on social media, with many of his videos going viral due to their eccentric nature.
