A senior executive of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) died after falling from the 17th floor of a residential tower in Noida’s Sector 104 on Saturday morning. Police said the incident occurred around 10.20 am and investigations are underway to determine whether the death was accidental or a case of suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Ajay Garg, an executive director with IOCL and a resident of ATS One Hamlet housing society.
Incident possibly linked to mobile network issues
According to police, preliminary findings suggest that Garg was speaking on the phone moments before the fall. Investigators believe he may have stepped onto the balcony of his apartment due to poor mobile network connectivity inside the flat.
However, officials stressed that this is only a preliminary assumption and all possible angles are being examined.
Residents alert authorities, executive declared dead
Residents of the society noticed Garg lying motionless on the ground shortly after the fall and immediately alerted emergency services. He was rushed to a private hospital in Sector 110, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Accident or suicide remains unclear
Senior police officials said it is too early to conclude whether the incident was accidental or intentional. “No suicide note has been found and there are no immediate signs of self-harm. We are examining CCTV footage and other technical evidence,” a senior officer said.
Police are reviewing surveillance footage from inside the society and nearby areas to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Family background and ongoing probe
Ajay Garg was originally from Kanpur and lived in Noida with his wife, Mayuri. His son is employed in Mumbai. Statements from family members, society residents and staff are being recorded as part of the investigation.
Officials said further clarity will emerge after forensic and medical reports are received. Police have urged the public to refrain from speculation until the probe is completed.
