Bengaluru: After rumours started making rounds that former test cricketer Javagal Srinath has joined the BJP, he has denied the same adding that politics and polls are not on cards.
Reacting to the reports in a section of media that the BJP may invite Srinath to the party fold and field him from the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, he stated that he is not prepared to join politics.
“I have told several times in the past that I am not interested in joining politics. Every year this kind of rumour is spread,” he said.
According to the BJP sources, party national leadership wants to invite Srinath to the party fold as part of its strategy to expand its voter base.
A section of media reported that BJP may give party Lok Sabha tickets to cricketers including Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir and Javagal Srinath.
