What began as simple cooking videos shared with his children has transformed the life of 48-year-old Jharkhand truck driver Rajesh Rawani, now a viral social media chef with millions of followers.
Rawani, who runs the YouTube channel R Rajesh Vlogs, has amassed over 2.78 million subscribers and around 2 million followers on Instagram through clips filmed inside his truck cabin or at highway stops.
From WhatsApp clips to viral fame
According to reports, the journey began when his son Sagar started uploading his father’s daily cooking routines in 2021. What set the content apart was its authenticity — viewers got a rare glimpse into a truck driver’s life on India’s highways.
Within months, subscriber numbers surged from a few thousand to over 1 lakh, eventually growing into a massive digital following.
Mastering the mobile kitchen
Cooking inside a truck is no easy task, but Rawani uses a compact 5-kg gas stove, basic masalas and fresh ingredients sourced locally. From Bengali fish curry to mutton kaleji, his recipes are simple, affordable and practical.
He often shares easy cooking hacks suited for hostel students and young professionals. “I use simple ingredients and techniques,” he has said in interviews, explaining that accessibility is key to his popularity.
From mechanic to millionaire creator
Rawani began working in a garage in 1990 and later took up truck driving after his father’s death in 1993. Cooking meals for fellow drivers became a bonding ritual on long journeys.
Today, his digital success has reportedly enabled him to build a ₹1 crore house and earn substantial monthly income through advertisements and sponsorships.
Despite his newfound fame, Rawani says he simply did what he loved — cooking on the road — while his children turned it into a creative opportunity.
His story reflects how passion, authenticity and digital platforms can transform even the most ordinary routines into extraordinary journeys.
