Actor John Abraham, while promoting his latest movie The Diplomat, openly expressed his admiration for Russia amidst the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Speaking to Aaj Tak, he said, “I’m a huge fan of Russia, I say this on record.”

Discussing the conflict, John voiced his support for Moscow, citing NATO’s eastward expansion as the catalyst. “Russia has been warning for 30 years not to allow NATO closer. No one paid attention. They finally reacted,” he remarked, while clarifying that he does not support the war itself or loss of innocent lives.

He praised India’s neutral diplomatic approach, particularly India’s decision to continue purchasing Russian oil despite international pressure. John also complimented External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, calling him “the poster boy of Indian diplomacy.”

Separately, in an interview with Times Now, John dismissed the narrative that minorities feel unsafe in India. He emphasized, “I’m a minority—my mother is Zoroastrian, my father a Syrian Christian. I’ve never felt safer anywhere else than in my own country.”

John returns to the big screen with The Diplomat, an action-thriller based on the true story of Indian national Uzma Ahmad. Directed by Shivam Nair, the film recounts how Uzma was rescued from Pakistan after allegedly being coerced into marriage and abused.
