Malashree, the iconic “Kanasina Rani” of the Kannada film industry, continues to charm audiences with her dedication and passion for cinema. Known for her versatility and dominance at the box office, Malashree has become more selective with roles over time. In her upcoming film Pen Drive, she looks forward to exploring fresh avenues beyond her well-known action persona.

In a recent chat, Malashree shared how her life now revolves around her children, Aradhanaa and Aryan. “Aryan, who is in his second year of college, is being prepared to enter cinema. It’s a shared dream that Ramu (her late husband) and I cherished. Aryan is equally passionate about this journey,” she revealed. Her daughter, Aradhanaa, has already earned praise with her impactful debut in Kaatera.

Reflecting on her career, Malashree expressed a desire to break free from typecasting. “I’m often offered roles in action or women-centric films, typically as a police officer. When I request variety, the response is usually, ‘How about making you a CBI officer instead?’” she quipped. While action roles have defined much of her career, she now craves scripts that challenge her range.

She also praised the evolving film industry, especially the rise of OTT platforms, which provide rich, creative storytelling and opportunities for actors. While direction once piqued her interest, Malashree now prefers to focus on acting and supporting her children’s aspirations.

As Malashree continues to navigate cinema with grace and purpose, fans eagerly await her next chapter on screen.
