Kasargod: The Manjeshwar police have apprehended Muhammed Ashraf (42), a resident of Krishnanagar in Chikkamagaluru, in connection with several thefts reported in the Varkady area.
Details of the Arrest
The accused was involved in multiple thefts from shops and religious sites, including a recent break-in at the Bala Yesu prayer hall in Varkady Bajilakeri. He also allegedly stole offerings from the Sri Koragajja Katte hundi at Pavala and Padi.
Acting on a tip-off about his presence in Malappuram, the police tracked him down and arrested him.
Investigation and Charges
Ashraf’s arrest is expected to shed light on a series of thefts in the region. Authorities are currently investigating his involvement in other similar cases.
The arrest has brought some relief to the local community, which had been on edge following the thefts.
