Mangaluru, October 11, 2025:
Malayalam actor Jayakrishnan, along with two associates, was arrested in Mangaluru for allegedly hurling communal slurs at a Muslim cab driver. The incident occurred on the night of October 9 when the trio booked a cab through a mobile app.
Details of the Incident:
According to the police, the driver, identified as Ahmad Shafiq, received a booking from Bejai New Road. Upon confirming the location, the accused reportedly mocked him in Hindi, calling him a “Muslim extremist” and “terrorist.” They also allegedly used abusive language in Malayalam, targeting Shafiq’s mother.
Legal Actions:
Based on Shafiq’s complaint, an FIR was registered at the Urwa police station under Sections 352 and 353(2) of the Indian Penal Code. Jayakrishnan and one of his associates were arrested, while the third individual is currently absconding. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
