On Sunday, the Kerala Catholic Bishops Council (KCBC) clarified its position on homosexual relationships, stating it remains opposed to them. In a Facebook post by the KCBC Jagratha Commission, the church rejected recent campaigns promoting homosexual relationships, describing them as “misleading” propaganda by vested interests.

The Commission reaffirmed its stance following discussions on social media about the film Kathal- The Core, which won the Best Film award at the State Film Awards. The KCBC Vigilance Commission had previously criticized the movie for depicting same-sex relationships as natural, citing concerns aligned with the Catholic Church’s moral and theological teachings.

While the KCBC maintains its opposition to homosexual relationships, it emphasized that the church does not isolate individuals based on their sexual orientation and advocates a compassionate approach toward everyone. The post also addressed misconceptions propagated by some progressive groups, asserting that neither the Catholic Church nor Pope Francis endorses homosexual relationships. It urged the public to be cautious of those promoting sexual anarchy under the guise of modern and progressive ideologies.
