Ernakulam: Hanan is a third-year chemistry student at a private college in Idukki. She has a hard life and sells fish in order to support herself and her parents. Her story was recently published by a local newspaper in Kerala named “Mathrubhumi” following which the girl became an overnight sensation.

After her story went viral on social media, most notably Facebook, Hanan was visited by politicians, actors and film directors. Film director Arun Gopy is even reported to have offered the girl a role in his upcoming directorial. While many were touched by the girl’s life struggles, many others have attacked her and threatened her on social media, calling her out for faking her situation for the purpose of getting a break in the film industry.

The girl was attacked online by many trolls who accused Hanan of manufacturing her story to fool the people of Kerala.

A distraught Hanan told the Mathrubhumi news channel that her struggle is real and that her trouble began when she was in the 7th standard. Even the director of her college came forward to confirm the girl’s story and the seriousness of her financial situation.

Hanan begins her day at 3 AM every day in order to procure the fish that she sells for a living, in the evening after her classes. Her situation is made worse by her divorced parents -her father, who is an alcoholic and his mother, who is mentally disturbed.
