Kochi: The doors of the Sabarimala Ayyappa Swamy Temple in Kerala, one of the most renowned religious sites in South India, have been opened to mark the commencement of the Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage. Led by the temple’s ‘Tantri’ Kandararu Mahesh Mohan, the sanctum sanctorum of Lord Ayyappa was opened for devotees.
To manage the influx of Ayyappa Swamy maladharis (devotees) arriving for the pilgrimage, staff has been deployed to ensure orderly queues. The pilgrimage attracts thousands of devotees seeking darshan of Lord Ayyappa, and many have already arrived, forming queues for the sacred glimpse of the deity.
