The central agency is believed to have started an investigation into the dubious financial transaction of a contentious mining firm with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan‘s daughter’s IT firm, amid the controversy surrounding Enforcement Directorate (ED) action against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The transactions are already being investigated by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs’ Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SIFO), which is looking into claims that the mining company received illegal benefits for mining mineral sand from Kerala’s coastal districts of Alappuzha and Kollam.
While the CPI(M) reacted that the ED was working as an agency of the BJP, Congress reacted that the fresh move was just a “stunt” to cover up the CPM-BJP nexus in Kerala. Opposition leader V D Satheesan of the Congress said that even as the ED initiated many probes against the CPI(M) government and CPI(M) controlled co-operative banks in Kerala, no actions were taken against the real culprits yet. Similarly the SIFO had also not even issued any notice to those involved in the doubtful transaction. Hence the present move by ED was only a “stunt” to cover up the BJP-CPM nexus in Kerala.
Additionally, Satheesan claimed that the Kerala government leased him four acres of land in exchange for spiritual guide Sri M acting as a go-between for the CPI(M)-BJP-RSS nexus. The accusations against the daughter of the chief minister concerned Rs. 1.72 crore that Veena and her Bengaluru-based company Exalogic Solutions received from Cochin Minerals and Metals Limited. Initial concerns about the deal were voiced by the Income Tax Interim Settlement Board, and additional investigations by central agencies revealed no proof of any services provided by Veena’s company to the mining company.
