THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Another disturbing incident has come to light involving a beggar assaulting a Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) on the Thiruvananthapuram-Kannur Jan Shatabdi train on Thursday morning.

The injured official has been identified as Jaison Thomas. The attack occurred shortly after the train commenced its journey. Following the assault, the attacker promptly leaped from the moving train. Authorities have intensified efforts to locate and apprehend him.

According to reports, the accused, identified as Rajnikanta, exhibited no remorse as he recounted the incident, stating, “I pushed him, he fell down, take me to Odisha.”

The altercation began when the accused, who was reportedly behaving rudely with other passengers and vendors, refused to produce a ticket when requested by the TTE. The situation escalated when the TTE informed him that he could not travel without a ticket, resulting in the physical assault.

Describing the ordeal, TTE Jaison Thomas stated, “A shabbily dressed man in his 50s boarded the train at Thiruvananthapuram station. Upon entering, he began pushing vendors and even spat on the platform. When I confronted him, he attempted to strike me. Although I managed to evade his blows, I sustained an injury below my eye from his nails. Fortunately, I received first aid from the guard when the train stopped, and I continued my duties as the injury was not severe. I will seek further treatment upon reaching Ernakulam.”

Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident to ensure the safety and security of railway staff and passengers.
