After a two-and-a-half-month wait, the mortal remains of Arjun, a truck driver who tragically lost his life in the Shirur landslide in Karnataka, were brought back to his hometown of Kozhikode on Saturday. His funeral, initially scheduled for 11 am, was delayed due to a large crowd paying their respects. Arjun’s brother Abhijith lit the pyre in a ceremony attended by family members, including his wife Krishnapriya and son Ayaan.

Prominent figures, including Ministers AK Saseendran and PA Mohammed Riyas, were present to honor Arjun. The Karnataka government’s ex-gratia payment of ₹5 lakh was also handed over to Arjun’s family.

Arjun’s body was found after 72 days, following extensive search efforts led by underwater search expert Eshwar Malpe.
