Mumbai: Minister for Irrigation and ‘troubleshooter’ of the Karnataka’s coalition government DK Shivakumar was detained by the Mumbai police on Wednesday afternoon, after he refused to move out of Hotel Rennaisance in Mumbai.
It may be recalled that DKShi launched a desperate attempt on Wednesday to pacify and rebel MLAs and in this regard reached Mumbai.
DKShi was not allowed into the hotel where the rebel MLAs were put up, despite him having booked a room here. The hotel management said that the rebel MLAs from Karnataka had said that they are facing threats from DKShi and hence his booking was cancelled.
However, DKShi, who said that he is no threat to anyone and that he was in Mumbai only to speak to his friends, was later on detained by the local police after he stayed put outside the hotel. DKShi had, in fact, earlier lauded the Mumbai police saying that they are only doing their duty and he hence had no hard feelings for them. All of a sudden he was detained by the cops by afternoon and there is no clarity as to where the police will be taking the leader.
