New Delhi: Jailed Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s health has deteriorated unleashing tension in the RJD camp. It is said that his kidney function has slipped to a critical level.
The hospital sources have said that the kidney function has dipped to 37 per cent from the recent 50 per cent, which has now become a cause of concern. Fluctuating blood sugar and blood pressure is adding to the problem.
The 71-year-old former union minister is undergoing treatment at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi, Jharkhand and is said to be on a high dose of antibiotics. The doctors hope that after the dose is over, his kidneys will function well gradually.
“His kidneys are not functioning properly. The GFR (glomerular filtration rate) has dropped. His blood sugar and blood pressure are also fluctuating. We can say he is not stable,” Dr Umesh Prasad, one of the attending doctors, told PTI.
The RJD leader’s son Tejashwi Yadav, on Saturday, came to Ranchi to meet his father and examine his health.
Lalu Prasad Yadav has been in jail since 2017 after his conviction in fodder scam cases.
