In a troubling incident at a private school in Bhandup, Mumbai, a 27-year-old lift mechanic was arrested for alleged misconduct involving three female students. The accused, identified as Gopal Gowda, had been called on November 27 to repair a malfunctioning lift at the school.
According to Senior Police Inspector Dattatray Khandagale, the students—aged 10 and 12—approached the lift to go to their class when the mechanic reportedly behaved inappropriately. Disturbed by the encounter, the students informed their teachers, leading the school principal to file a complaint with the Bhandup police.
A case was promptly registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections. The mechanic was taken into custody and presented before the court, with further investigations underway.
The incident has raised concerns among parents about the security measures in place at educational institutions.
