Mumbai: Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a major ultra-mega order to set up a Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) plant and allied facilities in the Middle East, marking a significant milestone for the company’s Hydrocarbon Onshore business (LTEH Onshore). The order was won in consortium with Greece-based Consolidated Contractors Group S.A.L. (CCC), which will manage construction activities.

The project encompasses engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) of a plant to process Rich Associated Gas (RAG), along with all associated utilities, offsite facilities, and integration with existing infrastructure. Under the consortium arrangement, L&T, as the lead partner, will handle engineering and procurement, while CCC will undertake construction work.

Scope and significance of the project

The NGL plant will process RAG sourced from offshore and onshore oil fields, removing impurities such as hydrogen sulphide (H₂S), carbon dioxide (CO₂), and water (H₂O). The facility will produce value-added hydrocarbons including lean sales gas, ethane, propane, butane, and hydrocarbon condensate.

Speaking on the order win, S.N. Subrahmanyan, Chairman & Managing Director of L&T, said:

“The ultra-mega order reaffirms L&T’s position as a trusted partner in delivering mega energy infrastructure. It underscores our growing global footprint and ability to execute projects of high complexity in partnership with leading players like CCC. We deeply value the confidence reposed in us and remain committed to creating long-term value through safe, sustainable and timely execution.”

Subramanian Sarma, Deputy Managing Director & President of L&T, added:

“This project is not just about scale but is also about bringing in advanced engineering, long-term reliability measures, and complex brownfield interfaces to deliver value-added products. The order strengthens L&T’s role in shaping energy security, while deepening the relationship with oil & gas companies through world-class execution.”

LTEH Onshore: A leader in EPC solutions

LTEH Onshore is among India’s largest EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) businesses, delivering Lump Sum Turnkey solutions across upstream, midstream, and downstream hydrocarbon sectors. The division has a strong track record of executing refinery expansions, petrochemical complexes, gas processing plants, fertiliser plants, LNG terminals, and cross-country pipelines across geographies.

The project win further consolidates L&T’s position in the global energy sector, demonstrating its ability to deliver complex, high-value projects that combine advanced engineering with sustainable and reliable operations.

Conclusion

The ultra-mega NGL project in the Middle East represents a strategic expansion of L&T’s global footprint and underscores the company’s expertise in executing complex energy infrastructure projects. By leveraging advanced engineering, brownfield integration experience, and international partnerships, L&T continues to strengthen its position as a trusted partner for energy security projects worldwide.
