A viral Instagram video showcasing Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar Railway Station has left social media users stunned, with many comparing the newly redeveloped station to a modern international airport.

The video was shared by Instagram user Aalimahaa Ali, who captioned it, “Still not over how stunning Lucknow Gomtinagar Railway Station is.” The clip highlights the station’s world-class infrastructure, spotless cleanliness, spacious concourse and airport-style ambience.

As the video progresses, Ali is seen using escalators to reach a large, air-conditioned waiting lounge with wide glass windows and open walkways. “Airport vibes, railway ticket,” she wrote, summing up what many viewers felt while watching the clip.

Airport-like design draws praise online

The video, which has crossed 4.2 lakh views, shows the station’s well-lit concourse, smooth passenger circulation and clean platforms. It ends with visuals of semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express trains stationed at the platforms, further reinforcing the premium travel experience.

Social media users flooded the comments section with praise. “This is exactly what development should look like,” one user wrote. Another commented, “People ask what has changed — this is your answer.” Several viewers also urged fellow citizens to maintain cleanliness and respect public infrastructure.

One of Lucknow’s busiest stations

Gomti Nagar is among the busiest railway stations in the Uttar Pradesh capital, handling around 76 trains daily. The station was redeveloped at a cost of ₹385 crore and inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2024.

The redevelopment includes segregated arrival and departure areas, integration of both sides of the city, an air-conditioned concourse, food courts, congestion-free movement zones and multi-level parking facilities.

First privately managed railway hub

In September 2025, the Rail Land Development Authority invited bids for Integrated Station Facility Management (ISFM), under which Gomti Nagar Railway Station will become India’s first privately managed railway hub.

While core operations such as train movement, security and ticketing will remain with Indian Railways, private firms will manage maintenance, cleanliness and passenger amenities.

RLDA said the move aims to ensure airport-like standards and consistent, high-quality passenger experience — a goal many feel has already been achieved, judging by the viral response.
