New Delhi: A-45-year old man died near the main gate of Ramjas College in north Delhi when a luxury car collided with two rickshaw pullers, said a report.
The incident involved an Audi Q3, owned by Virendra Mehta, a 56-year-old lawyer residing in Mukherjee Nagar. Mehta was subsequently arrested and subjected to a medical examination.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) M K Meena stated that the Maurice Nagar police station received a call about the accident at 1:16 PM. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the white Audi Q3 and determined that the driver had lost control of the vehicle, striking Govind and Ashok, who were seated on a bench nearby.
The injured rickshaw pullers were immediately transported to Hindu Rao Hospital for initial treatment. Govind was later transferred to LNJP Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, the DCP confirmed.
“Alcohol was not detected in the breath analyzer test, however, a blood sample has been taken for forensic analysis,” DCP Meena noted.
A source indicated that the sudden impact of the car gave the two men no time to react or escape. Legal proceedings are underway against the accused lawyer, police confirmed.
