Indore: According to a police official, a man was taken into custody on Monday in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, for allegedly setting a woman’s apartment on fire after she had cut off communication with him.
On February 3, after the woman had left to attend a birthday party, 32-year-old Tarun Dhaketa broke into her locked apartment, according to KP Yadav, the in-charge of the Kanadia police station.
“He ignited the apartment.” Police officers and firefighters put out the fire. CCTV footage captured Dhaketa’s act. The 34-year-old widow was acquainted with him. She did, however, cease communicating with him some time ago, the official stated.
“He was angry at her for this. Dhaketa informed her after he set the flat on fire. He had also issued threats to her over phone,” Mr Yadav added.
He was charged under Indian Penal Code sections 457 (trespassing into premises by breaking into at night) and 436 (malignant use of inflammable substance with intent to burn down a building), Mr Yadav said.
