Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh): Rajasthan authorities have unveiled significant developments in the case involving the disappearance of a young female student from Madhya Pradesh who was studying for NEET in Kota. According to police reports on Wednesday, it has emerged that the student’s purported abduction was, in fact, a premeditated scheme orchestrated in collusion with two acquaintances. Allegedly, the student and her companions devised this plan to extort money from her father under the guise of a kidnapping, reminiscent of a plot seen in movies.

Addressing the media, SP Amrita Duhan disclosed that the student arrived in Kota accompanied by her mother on August 3, 2023. Upon thorough investigation, it has been determined that the student did not encounter any adverse circumstances; instead, she was in the company of her friends.

As of now, the whereabouts of the student and one of her companions remain unknown. An appeal has been issued urging them to contact the nearest police station, as both the family and authorities are concerned for the student’s safety.

The case of 20-year-old Kavya Dhakad’s alleged abduction surfaced on Monday when her father received messages demanding a ransom of Rs 30 lakh for her release. Kavya, a resident of Bairad in MP’s Shivpuri district, was reportedly depicted in photographs sent to her father, depicting her bound with ropes.

The matter garnered additional attention after Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia engaged with Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma to facilitate the safe return of the girl.

Previously, CCTV footage from March 18, mere hours before the alleged abduction, captured the student at Durgapura railway station in Jaipur accompanied by two individuals. The Kota police are actively investigating the footage, and efforts are underway to track the girl’s whereabouts using CCTV footage. In a comprehensive approach, the Kota SP has announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for any information leading to the girl’s location, leaving no avenue unexplored in the quest for resolution.
