Mumbai: Maharashtra Congress chief Ashok Chavan, on Saturday, resigned from his post after the party’s poor performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in the state. He tendered his resignation shortly after RaGa offered to step down as president of the AICC.
As per a report by ANI, the former state chief minister said that AICC chief Rahul Gandhi would decide about the reshuffling and changes to be made in the party in order to strengthen it. He said that all party leaders were behind RaGa in his efforts to make the party stronger and added that he would be meeting him soon.
Continuing to show faith in the AICC chief, Chavan said that he worked hard and led the party from the front lines.
According to the report by ANI, after the Congress’ poor performance in the state, people started whispering that Chavan’s leadership was not up to the mark and that he should resign as the party’s state chief.
