The startling discovery of foreign objects like stones, gutka, and even a condom within a favorite snack like samosas has sent shockwaves through a renowned automobile firm located in Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune, prompting widespread revulsion. Authorities have disclosed that a vengeful businessman masterminded this disturbing act following the termination of his agreement with the company.

In response to the incident, law enforcement has taken action against five individuals, including two workers from a subcontracting firm responsible for supplying the tainted samosas. Additionally, three partners from another subcontracting firm, previously ousted for adulteration, have been implicated in the scheme. Investigations suggest that these partners strategically placed the two workers to tarnish the reputation of the firm currently holding the samosa contract.

The food supply chain involved in the incident is detailed as follows: Catalyst Service Solutions Pvt Ltd oversees food provision for the automobile firm’s canteen, subcontracting the samosa production to Manohar Enterprises. Upon inspection, employees of the automobile firm discovered condoms, gutka, and stones within the samosas, leading to the unraveling of the plot.

Further inquiries into the matter revealed the involvement of two workers, namely Firoz Shaikh and Vicky Shaikh, employed by SRA Enterprises. These individuals admitted to tampering with the samosas under instructions from SRA Enterprises’ partners, Rahim Shaikh, Azhar Shaikh, and Majhar Shaikh. The motive behind their actions stemmed from a desire to besmirch the reputation of Manohar Enterprises, which had replaced them in the contract.

Authorities have filed charges under IPC sections 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) in response to the incident.

This incident echoes a similar alarming occurrence earlier this year at Dronacharya Degree College in Dankaur, Uttar Pradesh, where approximately 20 teachers fell ill after consuming samosas from a local sweet shop during New Year’s Eve celebrations. Subsequent investigations revealed that the samosas, aside from being stale, contained poisonous worms.
